Larry Sartor has over 25 years’ experience leading senior leadership searches for the public, private and non-profit sectors in Canada and across the U.S. As a generalist recruitment specialist, Larry’s work spans a variety of industries and functional skill-sets; he recruited the executive team at Saint Elizabeth Health Care, the Chief Executive Officer for Cambridge North-Dumfries Hydro, and numerous executive placements at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority.
A 1978 graduate of York University, Larry began his career in a management training program with Digital Equipment Corporation. He subsequently worked for Xerox Canada as a Major Account Manager and later in the Financial and Professional Services area of Unisys Canada. After holding several senior positions in sales, marketing, and general management, Larry purchased Triton Air Technologies, an environmental engineering and manufacturing firm. As Chief Executive Officer of Triton, he oversaw an internal restructuring of the company and redefined its business strategy to focus on new market opportunities in Canada and the USA.
Larry founded Sartor & Associates Inc. in 1997, and has continued to build upon his success and expertise in executive recruiting throughout North America. Before establishing his own practice, Larry was a Partner at the Toronto-based, international executive search firm, Metzler & Company Inc. Preceding this, he led Business Development and Leadership Training at Ward Associates, a staffing and recruiting firm.
In his current role, Larry focuses on developing long term business relationships with his clients and helping them to recruit candidates with the right blend of managerial, technical and leadership skills. His generalist perspective and ability to quickly define and analyze specific business issues make Larry particularly well-equipped to help clients deal with the managerial challenges associated with organizational restructuring and re-engineering of core business processes.
Larry is an enthusiastic participant in various athletic and outdoor activities. He is also active in the community and is a Board Director of KidSport Niagara, a non-profit organization that raises money and provides grants to help less-privileged children participate in community athletics.
MARK FUKUZAWA, HBSc, MBA – Senior Consultant
Mark Fukuzawa is a Management Consultant with 30 years of experience in the energy sector, specializing in developing and leading strategic corporate projects for senior executive clients. His extensive executive management experience stems from a career spanning more than 25 years at Hydro One, which included customer operations, customer strategy, large enterprise system implementation, renewable energy projects, cross functional work process development, outsourcing relationships, business transformation, and business development. Leading Hydro One through significant business transformation change initiatives, he was involved in preparations for the Green Energy Act, establishing a long-term Customer Vision and Roadmap for the company, and managing a CIS platform implementation.
As a Management Consultant, Mark led two strategic corporate initiatives for Enercare, a leading home services and energy solutions company. The initiatives involved developing the strategic business case for a 5-year technology roadmap capital infrastructure investment program, as well as launching a new Green Energy business involving GeoExchange systems in residential condominiums.
As a valued member of our management consulting team, Mark works closely with our clients to ensure that we clearly understand both their organizational culture and their strategic planning needs. Mark’s practice focuses on leadership development, executive coaching, emotional intelligence, and strategic succession planning as a foundation for steady, sustainable growth within an organization. Mark holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business.
MARY COURTNEY, B.A. - Talent Acquisition Manager
Mary Courtney has over 15 years of experience assisting companies and leaders to develop and foster their human capital to optimize organizational performance. She has worked with executives and their senior management teams in the areas of talent management acquisition, succession management and strategies in cultural transformation. Her experience spans working with organizations both in the private and not-for-profit sectors across a variety of industries.
Mary co-leads the recruitment efforts in identifying qualified candidates through resume, candidate rationale and interview assessment reviews, along with best practices associated with data mining. She is certified in a leading assessment tool recognized by industry practitioners for producing reliable psychometric data on an individual’s interpersonal skills, and leadership style. A focus area is conducting assessments for the selection of executives, where she provides objective guidance when choosing the right fit with organizational culture, job, manager, and team.
Before joining the talent management industry, Mary held senior positions as an account executive with well-established IT companies, the most recent being Oracle (formerly Sun Microsystems), where she was responsible for client delivery and business development of professional services for national accounts. Mary holds B.A in Psychology from York University.
SARAH BURROWS, B.Math – Business Analyst & Project Manager
Over the past 30 years, Sarah Burrows has honed her skills as a Business Analyst & Project Manager. Her career experience spans several business sectors, including IT, Finance, Transportation, Manufacturing, and Engineering. She has extensive experience in process mapping, technical writing, business process reengineering, operational audit, and quality assurance. With her background in math and computer programming, excellent organization skills, and logical mind, she has a unique ability to bring "order to chaos”.
Sarah was responsible for developing our Knowledge MappingTM reporting process and now drives our Succession Management practice throughout our client base. She is also responsible for managing special project initiatives, including customized report generation, data mining, CRM interface, and all back-office systems and applications support.
Before joining Sartor and Associates, Sarah was QA Manager for a Canadian airline, responsible for developing and implementing their Safety Quality Assurance program in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and airline best practices. A resident of Halton Hills, she is active in chairing, supporting, and volunteering for several not for profit organizations and community project initiatives. Sarah is a volunteer member of the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario’s Quality Improvement Decision Support Committee and recently co-presented a paper at the Trillium Primary Health Care Research conference in Toronto. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
